GreenLatinos Celebrates Black History Month
Colorado: Mark Magaña the founding President & CEO of GreenLatinos issued the following statement honoring Black History Month:
“GreenLatinos consistently seeks to center and prioritize the needs of frontline Brown and Black communities. Black History Month is a special opportunity to celebrate the Black and Afro-Latino community and recommit our support for the communities that endure systemic discrimination and oppression daily.
While progress has been made, we must acknowledge the stark reality of the present: Black and Brown communities are disproportionately affected by global climate catastrophes that we did not cause. We remain united that now is the time for action, that the fight environmental liberation is not over, and that we are in this together shoulder to shoulder with the Black community. We honor Black history as a key part of our country's history.
GreenLatinos is an active comunidad of Latino/a/x leaders, emboldened by the power and wisdom of our culture, united to demand equity and dismantle racism, resourced to win our environmental, conservation, and climate justice battles, and driven to secure our political, economic, cultural, and environmental liberation.
